ATRIAL FLUTTER

Atrium flutter occurs due to abnormal atrium automatization leading to the circulation and arrhythmia maintaining phenomenon. It is a rapid work of atriums, usually about 300 per minute.

Causes:

The most commonly occurring organic heart disease (usually coronary heart disease, mitral failure, cardiac insufficiency)

Symptoms:

Symptomatology depends on the haemodynamic effect of the flutter, i.e. on the ventricular frequency and on the underlying disease. Flutter is usually a transient rhythm disorder, which either transits into the fibrillation of the atriums or sinus rhythm. The patient may have a sense of premature heartbeat.

Diagnosis

Anamnesis, clinical examination, ECG (frequency 120-150 per minute)

Treatment

  • Medical tretman
  • Radiofrequency ablation
